AVF on second row after Austin Q1

AVF by Adrián Vallés, the team running the SMP Racing cars in the World Series Formula V8 3.5, showed its potential straight away in the opening day for the championship at Circuit Of The Americas in Austin, in Texas.

With the weekend schedule anticipated by one day, Egor Orudzhev claimed a good third position at the end of Q1 in the evening. The Russian driver was already the fastest during free practice, with a personal laptime of 1:50.455 he set during FP1. Unfortunately Orudzhev will have to start from P5 in Race 1, serving a two-position grid penalty receveid in Mexico.

In perfect sunny weather, and with high track temperatures, Matevos Isaakyan scored the fifth best lap in the first qualifying session with AVF's second car, but he will step up in P4 on the starting line.

Friday's program will feature the second qualifying session and Race 1 at 16:25 local time.

“I like the track so far, it’s very challenging, there are high speed sections, slow corners, big braking zones. Even if it’s quite difficult to perfect, I really enjoyed it so far.”
