It has been a positive weekend for AVF by Adrián Vallés at their home venue in Montmelò. The team, headquartered just a few meters away from Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya, once again left a great impression by staying close to the front end of the charts, scoring valuable overall points and great finishes in the rookie competition.
Henrique Chaves did particularly well in race 1: the 20-year-old Portuguese ended up 11th, improving his starting position and scoring two points. Mexican Axel Matus was equally remarkable, fighting back to 14th place after starting from the 11th row on the grid. Lining-up for his home event, Xavier Lloveras recovered well too by cruising to the top-20. Australian racer Thomas Randle was less lucky. After crossing the line in 10th place, he was disqualified for not having the required amount of fuel left in his car. Then, in race 2, he was involved in a spectacular pile-up that wiped away 13 cars in turn 2. On the other hand, Chaves, Lloveras and Matus ended up in 12th, 13th and 14th place respectively.
Randle rebounded with a good performance in race 3, when he led the AVF pack in 14th place in front of Lloveras, who scored a weekend-high P7 among rookies, and Chaves. Lloveras and Matus are back for the traditional postseason collective test in Montmelò. They are paired by Frenchman Florian Venturi, Mexican Javier Gonzalez, and by Chinese Daniel Lu.

The many points finishes and the overall podium scored by Chaves at Silverstone confirm our great potential which we displayed in the Barcelona finale too. We fought for the overall top-10 all the time and now we look forward to the collective postseason test which will enable us to start preparing ourselves for 2018.”
