AVF has tough day at Monza

AVF has tough day at Monza

AVF by Adrián Vallés faced a difficult Saturday at Monza in the seventh round of the Formula V8 3.5 season. Against all odds, Alfonso Celis Jr. handed the team a valuable points finish by ending Race 1 in P9. The Mexican carved his way through the pack despite some qualifying woes.

On the other hand, series leader Tom Dillmann couldn't score any point for the first time this season following to a puncture that forced him to pit. The French driver had been equally unlucky in Q1, when the yellow flags denied him the chance to improve his laptime and forced him to settle for P9. At the start, Tom had a good getaway but lost valuable time due to the anti-stall activating itself at the first corner. Despite the troubled run, he was able to hold onto his championship lead.

    Alfonso Celis Jr  (#15) - Q1 - P13 1:35.117; Race 1 - P9 +51.242

"I think today has been a very disappointing day from the start this morning. We threw away our chances in the qualifying due a mistake with the wing levels: it was very frustrating, but these are things that can happen in motorsport. We were so far away on the grid and our race result is much more meaningful than it seems".

    Tom Dillmann  (#16) - Q1 - P9 1:34.169; Race 1 - P12 +1:43.608

“It just has been one of those days. In qualifying I had to slow down for a yellow flag while I was improving my laptime, so I had to start quite far away on the grid. Without this inconvenient I could have easily been into the top-5, but I rebounded with a great start in race 1. Unfortunately, the anti-stall went on at the first corner and I lost positions in the process. I was catching up when Buller ran into me causing a puncture and I had to change tyres. After that, my pace was really good. It’s a pity we couldn't score any points today”.
