AVF almost in the lead at Motorland

AVF continued to be among the stars of the Formula V8 championship preseason, as the team led by Adrián Vallés showed its full, impressive potential in the opening day of testing at Alcaniz. Tom Dillman took third place in the morning, before improving to second in the afternoon, just 17 thousands of a second away from the best lap, set by Egor Orudzhev.

The Frenchman successfully optimized the work of the team on set-ups, adapting well to the changing track conditions, while Alfonso Celis Jr. completed both today’s segments in 11th position. The Mexican lined-up despite a strong flu condition, with a 38°C temperature and a ill-feeling that didn’t enable him to exploit his full capabilities.

    Alfonso Celis Jr. (#15) Morning: P11 1:42.568 – 29 laps  – Afternoon: P11 1:41.554 - 24
“I’m a bit sad because I was very excited to come here to prepare in the best way the season, but unfortunately I’m not in the best physical condition. I had a fever, I couldn’t sleep last night and I had ear pains. It has not been my day, but in the morning I’ve been able to complete the scheduled work, in the break I went to the medical centre and it was a bit better. It happens, better now than in a race weekend, I hope it will be better”.

    Tom Dillmann (#16) Morning: P3 1:40.975 – 32  - Afternoon: P2 1:40.692 - 27
“The car felt good since the beginning like last winter. This morning we didn’t get the right balance as the track was a bit green, few grip in the corners. But this afternoon it was much better, we didn’t drive a lot to save some tyres, but the car feels really good and we will see tomorrow morning with more tyres how it goes".
